Two U.S. soldiers killed in northern Iraq

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Two U.S. soldiers were killed and nine others wounded in an attack inside an Iraqi army compound Tuesday, the U.S. military said.

A gunman wearing an Iraqi army uniform opened fire on the soldiers at the base near the city of Tuz in Salahuddin province, U.S. officials said in a statement.

The gunman was killed, the statement said.

The attack came a week after the United States formally ended combat operations in Iraq.
